(a)  Insulation

Make sure that attic in the house is fully insulated; remember heat rises and most of the heat that you generate in your house is lost through the roof. It is simple to buy good quality insulation from all the main DIY superstores and this could be one investment very much worth making.  Don’t want to do it your self we can help you.  There are more products than you probably know about that is on the market, designed so your home will not loose energy.

At Rusco we can’t say enough about this.  Ensure that your windows are in good condition, no broken or cracked pains, the wood surround is in good condition, the paintwork is kept in good order with regular refreshes of paint to stop rot and damp. Double glazed windows are a must if you want to keep the heat in and stop the cold and damp from coming through. With in any budget new replacement windows are a great investment in today’s energy concise times.  Can’t afford a whole house full of replacement windows then do the job in stages.   Rusco wants our customers to be confident about what they are buying is a quality product that will last a life time.  Since we measure, build and install our own windows, we know what it takes for a window to last the elements time.  We build quality vinyl windows and we sell other quality products design to be around as long as we have been in business.  All replacement windows are not the same and only a manufacture of a window can tell you the difference.  Does a Yugo have the same quality as a Lexus?  Not every window is the same either.

Don’t want replacement windows?  Are you in a restricted area where a full replacement window is not allowed?  Then new storm windows will help energy cost and storm windows can be made with Low E coatings to deflect energy and save you money.

(c) Internal and External Doors

Make sure that you have good external doors; these should be double glazed also and be fitted properly with seals for the letter box and the surrounds. The internal doors in the house should all shut properly and make good seals and have draft excluders where appropriate.

External doors such as those by ProVia out of Sugar Creek, Oh. are energy star certified, made of multiple materials and can have R Values as high as 15.  No, these doors are not your “Box” store doors. These doors are prefinished professional grade doors designed to save you money and last a lifetime.   Ask us about our doors.
