Rusco says "Go Green" and save money on electricity

Rusco of Roanoke believes green and sells green. We have been “saving you energy year round” for decades. Here are some simple combined tips that should help you save money.
Save Money on Electricity
(a) Energy Saving Light Bulbs
Fit energy saving light bulbs to all your lights, this not only helps to keep your electricity bills down but at the same time you are doing your part for the environment. On average the light saving bulb will last up to 12 times longer than the normal light bulb and reduce the amount of electricity required by 1/3 for compact fluorescents or possibly ½ using the newer L.E.D.s. A standard “Thomas Edison” light bulb puts off more heat in comparison to any new bulbs so on a summers day less heat from lighting means less AC to cool your home. In other words that means less electricity you use, which equals more money in your pocket.
Did you know the standard 100 watt bulb will not be sold in the US after Jan. 2012 and that the standard 40 watt bulb will no longer be sold after Jan. 2014.
(b) No Electrical Equipment on Standby
Make sure you turn your electrical equipment and sockets off when you are not using them, especially television, videos, DVD players that have standby modes, these use more electricity than you would think.
(c) Electrical Safety Checks
Get your wiring and circuits professionally checked to ensure that your appliances are working to their optimum capacity. Have you checked that ground default switch in your bathroom lately. Probably not but they don’t last forever and are designed so that you don’t get a serious, possibly life endangering B-U-Z-Z when around water.
(d) Shade
Every window and every door can in most cases have an awning. Awnings block solar heat gain. Retractable awnings allow homes to heat up in the winter and cool better in the summer. Metal awnings are much more durable than canvas awnings but in the end both save homeowners money.
